Art of Medicine Gala
6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Orlando Museum of Art
The Art of Medicine Foundation invites healthcare professionals and brain injury survivors from across the county to submit their visual artworks for consideration in the Art of Medicine Gala. The event takes place October 20, 2017, at the Orlando Museum of Art.
The gala is in honor of Dr. Cindy LaRoe, survivor of a traumatic brain injury. Dr. LaRoe found painting therapeutic during her recovery, and, six years after her injury she continues to paint. Her recovery and artworks inspired her husband, Ken LaRoe, the founder of Orlando-based First GREEN Bank, to create the Art of Medicine Foundation and Gala.
The Art of Medicine Gala is produced by The Art of Medicine Foundation and is designed to “educate and inspire” awareness about the impact that: trauma and concussions can have on those they affect. Proceeds from the Art of Medicine Gala will benefit the University of Florida TRAuma, Concussion, and Sports Neuromedicine Program (UF TRACS) supporting care and research for patients with Traumatic Brain Injury.
6pm – 7pm – Kessler Reception – VIPs and Sponsors enjoy a pre-show of the artwork, a private tour of the Orlando Museum of Art and have an opportunity to mingle with the artists and dignitaries.
7pm – 10pm – The Main Event – The event is a brain-injury friendly environment featuring: creative food stations, innovative guest speakers and an art show and auction. The art has been created and donated by doctors, health care professionals and brain injury survivors from around the country.
